DCHS senior, Brittany New placed first in the Voice of Democracy Competition for the State of Georgia. Brittany will be honored at the Fort Oglethorpe VFW on January 16th. In addition to winning a monetary amount at the local level, she also won $1,000 for being the state-wide winner.

Brittany will advance to the national competition in February, where she will read her essay at the state meeting in Macon, Georgia. This scholarship program has a top money prize of $30,000.
